10 weeks

The days and weeks are going by faster than ever for me! I wondered for a while when I was pregnant if it would get hard to be at home and only have my baby at home with me to talk to. I have been working full time since I graduated 3 years ago. Not for one second has it been hard! If I ever find the need for adult conversation I can usually round up my sister, my mom or Adam's mom for a good chat!
With Jackson being 10 weeks now I have found myself trying catch and memorize every moment of his life... and its just not working! I am already struggling to remember how tiny he was those first couple of weeks, and when it would be hard to get him to wake up and show me his pretty blues, and he barely took up half of his bassinet. Now he doesn't fit in the bassinet, he shows me his pretty blues all the time, and he is starting to get little fat rolls on his thighs, and he is even responding to us now.
I decided for my benefit more than anyone else's I would try to capture a few of his "tricks" that he is doing at 10 weeks so I can at least have a visual in the months to come of what he was like at 2 1/2 months since I know the months will only continue to slip away.

Jackson falls asleep best with his binki, although we usually have to stick it back in a few times, or wait for him to find his thumb until he is fast asleep. I can always tell when he is tired if I stick his binki in and he gets "tired eyes".

Jackson loves for us to push his knees up to chest to get out gas! He has learned how to do it on his own, and sometimes he can get that gas out all by himself. Its a hoot when you watch up pull up his legs and a lil toot comes out.

Although it has been a rare occasion, we are starting to get small giggles every now and then--but mostly just lots of smiles!

I couldn't resist--I never want to forget his sweet yawns--He'll give a big yawn and then let out a small sigh like he is just totally exhausted.

I love when he is just waking up and does his stretching just like his mommy daddy do in the morning.

In the past couple of weeks he has really started to enjoy his play mat. He can swat the toys and almost grasp them everynow and then. It keeps him occupied for quit some time. Although I think he might like his mobile in his crib even more than this.

Too precious! He started doing this little pouting face a few weeks ago when he gets sad.

Thumb or fingers?

So, apparently Jackson was offended by my last post when I said he was only coordinated enough to get his two fingers in his mouth and not his thumb. He proved me this last night and this morning when I found him thoroughly enjoying his thumb. It seems the dilemma of binki or no binki is over and it is between the thumb or fingers.
I have also started to notice that he really likes to touch the back of his head where all his hair is while he sucks on his fingers. It is too cute!!










I ran to the grocery store last night to pick up something for our Sunday dinner. I came home and Adam said Jackson was asleep in his crib. I found him on top of a throw pillow in his crib. It turns out Adam had Jackson on top of the pillow on his lap when Jackson fell asleep and Adam didn't want him to wake up so he just kept him on the pillow and set him in the crib. (you can't really tell how funny it looked. The pillow is pretty thick, so it was funny to see half his body completely elevated).

Binki or...?

...your ring finger and middle finger? That seems to be my newest dilemma. I was hoping Jackson wouldn't really figure out the whole thumb sucking business, and as it turns out he didn't. Instead he figured out how to find his middle and ring finger for sucking.

What a funny kid. I always thought it was so weird and random when I saw kids sucking those two fingers--since I myself was a thumb sucker:) But for Jackson and his coordination those are the only fingers he has been able to figure out how to get successful in his mouth and then suck. A lot of the time he sucks around on his fists and chews on his thumb a bit. But those two fingers have been reasonably successful for him.

Whenever his binki falls out he almost immediately pulls one fist or the other up to his mouth and starts searching for his fingers. During the day I usually try to pull them out and stick his binki back in. He'll suck on that for a while again till it falls out and then goes for his hands. I knew there are pros and cons to both binki and fingers but is there one that has better pros than the other? I dunno? If you have suggestions or thoughts on this, by all means, please share!!
