It's Fall!

We definitely embraced the first weekend of fall! Friday morning Jackson and I went to Evan's Orchard with several other mom's and kids. Jackson and I mostly tried to stay warm since the wind was crazy cold and we were both in summer clothes while all the big kids played. We got some fun pumpkin pictures and then went into the orchard and picked a few apples. I had a great time seeing and visiting with the other mom's, and Jackson was a great sport and took a mini nap in my arms.

By afternoon, Adam was done studying for the day and we drove down to Morehead to go to the 10th annual Cave Run Storytelling Festival! It was so fun to listen to the professional storytellers-- our favorite was Bil Lepp... funny funny guy! We had a great time seeing Grandma Pam and Grandpa Bob and enjoying all the tellers. It is incredible how they can suck you into a story. It's a bummer we have to wait whole year to hear them again.

Y-M-C-A

I did it... I am now officially a member of the YMCA. What does that mean? It means I am going to have to get my money's worth by going multiple times a week, it means I am going to have to leave Jackson with Y-sitters, it means I am going to lose more weight and feel better, and it means I am going to get to do something for myself ! All you Y goers, let me know what classes you go to, I am sure I'm going to need some motivation every now and then:)

New Binki and new froggy

Jackson and I went to stay at Grandpa Bob and Grandma Pam's a couple of weeks ago for a night. I forgot Jackson's little green froggy blanket at their house. Jackson has grown accustomed to having something soft to hold when he is going to sleep and sucking on his binki. So before we could get froggy back we substituted it with a Tigger stuffed animal that had a similar texture.
To our surprise he took it pretty well and it actually worked out a little better for us because his froggy would end up over his face and eyes and he would start crying until we would come and move it and put it back in his hand. Plus it would freak me out that he would suffocate.
Well tonight I went in to check on him and found that he also replaced his binki for Tigger.

I think he has a furrowed brow because he was mad about the flash on the camera.

This position is just recently a new favorite. I lay him down straight and then he wiggles around.

5 months 4 days ago

As a first time mom it is so incredible for me to watch my own baby grow, change and develop. It is such a blessing to be with him each day and be a part of his progress. As I reflect each month on his "mile makers" and look at how he has changed in pictures it brings new meaning to line upon line precept upon precept here a little and there little. Each day he is making progress and yet it is not until the end of the month that I see how much each day made a difference.
In month four Jackson started doing all out laughs!! Of course he laughs the hardest when playing with his dad. (We will do videos soon!) He seems to be ticklish and is starting to enjoy playing with toys.
He is tall enough in his exersaucer that he can gradually turn himself from "station to station".
He lifts his bum every time we try to put his diaper on, and he starts smiling and giggling every time we take his clothes off.
He got his first yeast infection (yes, boys can get yeast infections--kind of like jock itch) that took forever to get rid off. He started rice and oatmeal cereal and always eats as much as we give him
He still gets up 2 or 3 times a night. He rarely wakes up crying, especially during the middle of the night. He usually wakes me up by whining for a bit mixed with a little talking. His eyes are wide up open and when I look over his crib, his eyes literally light up and he starts kicking.
He has decided to hold in bowel movements for 3 or 4 days and then does one huge explosion. He will sit in his Bumbo, although he hasn't fallen in love with it like I had hoped.
He still does a great job and taking morning and afternoon naps and sometimes even an evening one. He loves sleeping with his froggy and Tigger and listening to his mobile. When I am nursing him and stop to burp him, if he isn't ready for a break he will now fling himself back so he can latch on again. He will follow his mom and dad all around the room and whines sometimes when we leave or when dropping a toy.
His favoirite "never fails to make him laugh" game is definitely Pat-a-Cake. He loves loves loves it!! It's super cute. (That's how I got him to flash me that smile in the tub) He is also becoming a big fan of Peek-a-book when you put something on his head and pull it off. He is fascinated by watches and goes for them constantly and then bends his body to try and eat them.
Plus all of his "new tricks" that I posted a few weeks ago sums up Jacksons 4th month. One of the most exciting advancements for me was that his goopy eye finally cleared up!!! Hooray!

Update!

Adam has mentioned multiple times that he thinks we should make more posts that are about us and not just Jackson. So here is stab at it...
With football season in full swing we have dedicated the past two Saturday afternoon and evenings to getting together with fellow BYU alum and cheered the Cougars to victories! The Dickens hosted the first Saturday and Noel's mom made quite the spread of goodies and treats that we all made an attempt to contribute to. The wives caught a few plays but we mostly played with the babies and enj0yed catching up and chatting.
The second Saturday was hosted by the Wild Willburs! It was another great turnout and we all loved crushing UCLA. We mostly loved the incredible "snakies" compliments of Joy--She had to out do Noel's mom:) And we are all glad she did. There was of course Mario carting during halftime like the Saturday before.
One of the most comical parts of the day to me was that there was at usually one wife nursing the whole game! There were five couples and all five of us have nursing babies.
Adam and I are anxious for BYU to play again so Adam can be manly and do some karting with friends and so I can snack and chat!!

Adam tried out for the UK Club Soccer team last week for 3 days. He mostly did it to be able to say he did it, meet some other soccer players to play pick-up with, and see if he could make the team. We were slightly bummed that he didn't make the team, although he probably wouldn't have joined anyway with the costs and amount of travel. I would proud of him for having the confidence to try and the stamina to make it all 3 days.
My most exciting news for the month is probably that I am 5lbs away from my pre-pregancy weight! YAHOOO!!! I haven't even started exercising yet so I'm not sure how motivated this is making me to getting back to the tennis shoes. I am thrilled though because I though I would just get to this point right before getting pregnant again, and we are definitely not close to getting pregnant again!

Welcome Ashely Anne Bylund!

I am the proud aunt of Ashley Anne who was born on September 5th to Jon and Angela! We are so excited that she is here and healthy! She is a beautiful little girl and makes the 11th grandchild in the familyAshley Anne Bylund--7lbs 10oz. 19 1/4 in.
