A good day

It's a good day when your kid eats his first peanut butter and jelly sandwich and likes it! Now I know he will never go hungry.

Nauvoo!

For Memorial Day weekend we decided to head to Nauvoo, IL where Adam's grandparents are serving a mission at the Nauvoo Temple. They have been there for 13 1/2 months and we hadn't seen them yet so we thought it would be a fun way to spend our 3 day weekend. Jackson was a great help while I was packing on Friday afternoon, he pushed our cooler around the kitchen and into the living room--he really liked having a cup holder for his milk.

Jackson got to sit facing forward for the first time on our way to Nauvoo. He thought it was fantastic being able to see the cars and being able to see Adam and I. Sadly, it ended up being far harder for him to fall asleep sitting so upright. He was a such a trooper though when he was awake. He probalby only slept a couple of hours on the way there and maybe 2-3 on the way of the 18 hours (roundtrip) that we were on the road.

We stopped at a hotel at around 1am and spent the night. We got to Navoo around 10:30. We dropped Jackson off with Gma and Gpa Little so Adam and I could enjoy doing a session inside the temple! So beautiful! It was great to be together in the temple and so nice knowing Jackson was taken care of and would be right outide when were finished. Gpa Little took us on a small tour of the temple- a perk to having grandparents serving inside the temple! It was great.

Saturday afternoon we were pretty tired. We went to a couple of Nauvoo sites, but mostly relaxed, visited and tried to get Jackson to rest as long as possible at Gma and Gpa's house. That evening we went to a show Sunset on the Mississippi. It was so fun! Jackson had a good time for the first quarter. He loved playing in the rocks and hearing all the music. By the middle he was miserable so he and I went home for him to get a bath and the rest of the crew enjoyed the 2nd half of the show.

Jackson still get a red rash all around his eyes, nose and forhead when he cries hard. This was him soon after we arrived home from the show.

He had a 40 minute bath in the sink and felt much better by the end.

After his bath and a bit of a snack, Jackson fell asleep with all of the lights on and all of us talking and visiting until midnight or so--which is VERY out of the ordinary for him.

Sunday morning came early. Adam had been deathly sore and tired from a HUGE week at dental school with root canal practicals and other drilling and carving in the lab. So he and Jackson were exhausted and slept in Sunday while Gma, Gpa, and I went to church. I came home the Little's and picked up Jackson during the second hour so Adam could sleep a bit longer. It was a crazy full ward with TONS of senior couple missionaries. There was a wonderful spirit there.

In the afternoon we had a delicious picnic outside and stuffed ourselves full.

Adam and Jackson and I decided to walk down to the Mississippi and take a few shots. We randomly saw a guy Adam used to work for with ACE in Provo there which was pretty funny.

Tigger also got to go to the shore of the Mississippi.

Sunday evening we decided to head over to the temple and take a few pictures.

One of the exciting things that happened over the weekend was Jackson learned to walk! So fun! He was super cute to watch him toddle around back and forth. So glad the Little's got to be a part of this new phase of life! He thinks he is pretty big stuff now. (I'll try to get a video up soon)

Monday morning started at about 5:00am so we could pack the car and head home. Sadly we had to say good by and spend 9 hours in the car for Adam's birthday. Sunday Grandma had THE most delicious carrot cake and we sang to Adam. When we got home he got his present from me. He was a good sport about getting jipped on his birthday since we got home adn were exhuaseted and had no decent food in the house and he had a big test the next morning. We just celebrated it in snipits throughout the week. Sorry Adam...next year will be better! :)

A little bit of summer

Our 3 favorite things to do (Okay, my three favorite things to do when I am tired of being in the house and need to kill time) are going across the street to feed the ducks, blowing bubbles and going to kirklevington park. Lucky for me and Jackson Britt and Lind's got to spend some time with us last week while Jon and Angela worked on packing up their house to move. It's so fun to have cousin's near by!!!

Jackson loves to watch Britt and Lindsay pop bubbles, he laughs uncontrollably sometimes. It's hilarious. He also likes the ducks, but only from a distance. He doesn't get excited when they get close. (why are ducks scary to him and gigantic dogs are the best?) He totally enjoys swinging at the park, but loves the slide.
