It's a Match!

December 1st... Drum roll please......

UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI KANSAS CITY!!!

We were shocked and excited! We were grateful we matched, surprised it wasn't VCU, and anxious to see what will unfold for our little family at UMKC.

Since the match came in an email, me and the boys went up to UK and met up with Adam, Jon and Josh in the hospital lobby to open the email. It sure made it special to open it up with family!

In less than 24 hours, our little family loaded the car and headed to Kansas City! Adam had a 5 day weekend to study for boards so we decided to spend his days off exploring Kansas City to see what is awaiting us and get an idea of housing and neighborhoods.
It was about a 10 hr drive with stops and the boys were amazing! We had a great time looking at apartments, driving around the city, and visiting the dental school.

We hit up the Crowne Plaza Center (stores, restaurants, kids activities etc) that is within walking distance of the dental school. Santa was there with a 2 minute wait in the Crayola playplace so we stopped by for a picture after we had eaten lunch at Fritz's! It was this perfect restaurant for boy toddlers! Everyone is seated in booths, someone comes and takes your drink order, then you order your food via a phone and a train comes and delivers your food (bottom collage, top. We all loved it and can't wait to go back!

Our last night in Kansas City we stayed at Cocoa Keys, an indoor water park hotel. We had a swell time vacationing as a family! The water heater was broken the first night which made it pretty chilly. But the boys were great sports and we still had a great time, heading to the hot tub frequently to warm up.






When we woke up in the hotel we were eating our mini muffins in bed and talking. We weren't playing close attention and we looked over at Drew who had found an open bag of chocolate chip mini muffins and was just has happy as can be with a very full mouth!

Something new everyday

I love the ages of my boys right now 9 months and 2 1/2! Everyday is filled with a new saying or developing a new skill! It's a neat experience watching them learn and progress.

First of all-- love that Jackson has his hand his pocket in the pic above! Just. Plain. Darling. Second, I love the things he is coming up with. Some of my favorites over the last week.
1. Adam asking Jackson to get his shoes and put them in the closet and Jackson saying "No, mom's got it," very nonchalant
2. We were walking into the YMCA and Jackson wasn't really excited to be going. He says, "Wait, I know, I could choose to be happy!"
3. Every night when I tuck him in I point to my eye and he says "I", I hug myself and he says "love", and I point to him and tickle him and he says "you". Then I say "And I love you too!!" Then he responded with "Wait, that means we both love each other".

Yeah, he's an incredible kid. Definitely a keeper.


And sweet darling Drew is no throw back either!! He and I were both beaming today when I walked into his room after nap time and and saw him sitting up in his crib! He looked so grown up and so sweet! It was the first time he has gone from a laying down position to sitting position all by himself! He was so sad when I ran out the room because I went to get the camera so I could document the moment:) I didn't catch him sitting straight up and looking proud like I wanted, but it does show how close he is crawling (and badly he needs his hair trimmed)!

Halloween Happenings

October 30th was a "layover" for Adam. He flew home from Virgina arriving at 3:00, in time to make a pterodactyl costume to go trunk or treating at 6:00. We loved having him home for the night, but had to return him to the airport the next evening to fly to FL and then Oregon.

Jackson was a great triceratops and had one crazy roooooaaar!

What a family!

My dad came to Lexington for Trunk or Treat! It was so nice to have him help with the boys and hang out with all the grandkids!

This year Halloween fell on Sunday, but lucky for us, Nicholasville, just south of us did trick or treating on Friday night. So as in year past, the cousins gathered together for a grand time of trick or treating. Jackson was not nearly as efficient with his time in getting as much loot as possible, but I suppose for his age I should be content and glad I didn't have more candy to have to hide, throw away, and eat for myself!

A couple of weeks before Halloween our Church playgroup did a Halloween party for the kids. It was fun to get the kids dressed up and do a few games with food to munch on and see the other kids in their costumes.




We convinced the Reynolds to let us come over to their house and carve pumpkins and take pictures of the cousins in their matching Halloween garb. Loved the hats, compliments of Jenna's mom!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

I took the boys, just for fun, to do Halloween pictures. I loved having ones of me with both the boys when they were born, and thought I may as well do some more:) I thought they turned out pretty darling. (Christmas pictures were another story... who goes and takes their kids to do pictures just for fun...?? Maybe we will have Halloween pictures for Christmas!)
