Reynolds Wedding/Orlando Trip

It's been just over a week since we returned from Josh and Jenna's wedding in Orlando. It was a grand affair and we all had a great time. The sealing was beautiful and it was great to see Josh so happy and for me to not be the only in-law in the Reynolds Family:)
It was Jackson's debut to all of Adam's sisters and brother. It was fun for me to watch how excited they all were to see and hold Jackson. It reminded me of myself 7 years ago when I became an aunt for the first time. It is fun for me to be on the other side now and be a mother watching other people love our lil' Jackson.

I almost forgot! It was aslo Jackson's first plane ride! He was just under eight weeks when few to Orlando. Of course he did a fantastic job! I fed him in the Louisville airport just before leaving and he fell asleep soon after. He didn't wake up again until we were at our hotel in Orlando! I really don't think there is another baby out there that is this perfect!

I consider myself lucky to have a wonderful father in my home, to have been raised by a wonderful father, and to have a wonderful father-in-law who treats me as his own.


Like many other things, Adam excels at being a Father. I'm excited for Jackson as he beings to grow and he realizes what a lucky kid he is to have Adam as his dad. Adam loves him so much and I see it in word and deed. Adam will give him knowledge, courage, spiritual strength and guidance, a love for soccer, a desire to serve otheres and so much more. It such a blessing for me to know that Jackson has a father who wants him to be happy and wants him to succeed and that he will help him do both. Thank you Adam for your dedication to making our family wonderful!

I couldn't be the daughter, wife, or mother I am today without my dad. He has set an incredible example and standard for me of what it means to serve your family, the Lord and others. He has made it clear that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the answer to all things and that through living its principles you will be happy. I have seen all my life that he has put the Lord first, and as the sciptures say, in so doing everything else will fall into place. He is a wonderful priesthood holder that takes his resposiblities as one seriously and is eager to bless the lives of others. I am grateful for the patriarch he was in our home and to our family and that he served along the side of my mother to raise such a wonderful family!

I couldn't be happier with any other father-in-law! Larry has been such a jewel in my life already even though it has only been 2 years. It is obvious to me that he is a pillar of patience and that patience can bring great blessings to a family. I respect him so much as I have watched him live w/ an over abundance of estrogen in his house having 4 teenage daughters and his wife and both his sons gone for 4 or 5 years. He never complains and never expects anything to be about himself. We have had some great one-on-one chats that I treasure and appreciate as he has given me advice and strength during difficult moments as a new wife. Thank you Larry for your love and example!

Swimsuits and Soda

Thank goodness I already have my ping pong table, because at this rate I will never see my hard earned loan money again over the next few years of dental school. We went to old navy the other day. I need a lot of clothes, but I am a bit of a penny pincher so I try to only buy stuff when it is on sale. So for example I bought a pair of jeans for next fall because they were on sale for fifteen bucks and I am sure I will need them.

Also take for example the fact that four years ago I needed a swimsuit and went to old navy and found one for FOUR dollars! So I broke the bank and bought it...it is still the same suit I wear today even though the back pocket is ripped.

This last week while at Old Navy I thought to myself, maybe I should buy a new swimsuit. "No I already have one" I labored with the decision but my better thrifty self walked away, proud of my moral victory.

I casually walked to the back to try on my jeans to make sure they fit and to spare you the details I came back out and to my right was the baby/infant section of old navy. I didnt even know they made clothes that small at Old Navy! If you have a baby and live off loans like I do... I am warning you ahead of time DO NOT ENTER THE BABY SECTION. The baby section is the fountain drink of a happy meal. You walk in there and you loose sense of all direction and suddenly you think everything is a must have and way cutter than it is. You pick out a few things here or there because you cant just get a water with your hamburger. Then you make it to the front to check out and they charge you 10 dollars for the shirt and 10 dollars for the swim trunks you just bought your son. If you were to translate that into dollars per square foot, it would be like 50 bucks a square foot, because there is less fabric in the clothes for you baby than in a pair of socks. But you buy it anyways and now your deal on a pair of jeans just made Old Navy a killing.

So you might be wondering what I am trying to say... Well the lesson is don't buy the stupid soda. You know that stuff only costs like 2 cents a gallon to make, and they just laugh at you because your just donating to the charity called McDonalds when you buy a soda. They make you think you are getting a deal because "You get FREE refills." what they dont tell you is that no human could possibly drink a dollars worth of soda and actually live. Lesson 2-your kid is going to be better dressed than you for the rest of your life, unless you can avoid the siron call of the baby section in (insert name of any national chain clothing store here).

As I wrote this post I think he already out grew the outfit, so we either have to have another kid to get some use out of it or just go buy more clothes. You can place your bets on which one we choose!
